Buy Windows 7

When Clean Installing Windows 7, Can I Transfer Most Program Settings By Copying Over The “appdata” Folder?

I have Vista 32-bit, and I am going to do a clean installation of Windows 7 64-bit. If I backup my AppData first, and copy it over again after installing Windows 7, will I be able to preserve most of my program settings?
Thanks!

  1. Depends on the programs. Some things also store stuff in the ProgramData folder, and some things store settings in the registry. Some will also use your Documents folder.
If there’s anything critical, you should look up where specific programs store stuff.
You can also try using the Windows Easy Transfer Wizard to carry things over.
