Should I Wait To Buy A New Computer Until Windows 7 Comes Out?

I’ve got an opportunity to buy a sweet laptop right now for a likw $650, that would usually cost over $1000. I was planning on waiting to buy a new laptop until after Windows 7 comes out (holiday season this year). What’s your opinion? Should I swoop up on this great deal, or do you think I’ll feel behind the times if I don’t have Windows 7 at the turn of the new year?

  1. Free upgrades for most new computers pre-installed with Vista Home Premium and above are expected to take effect beginning on June 26, 2009.
If it’s a really really great deal, you might want to go ahead anyway and grab it now.
However, if you can wait a month or two, what you save on the new OS combined with the way tech prices for what you get tend to go, you might be better off hanging on.

There will always be great deals with laptops. If you buy one now and want to upgrade you can always buy a version of windows 7 and install it. Although, if you have problems with vista like most people I would make the jump to windows 7 asap.

  3. If you buy a machine preloaded with Windows Vista after July 1st 2009, you will be eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 7 once it’s released. There are a number of restrictions, though; you are not allowed to upgrade from one language to another. In addition, the only upgrade paths allowed within the program are from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium, Business to Professional, and Ultimate to Ultimate. All other paths are not allowed; people who buy Vista Starter or Vista Home Basic are not eligible for upgrades, for instance. http://www.osnews.com/story/20735/The_Mi…

  4. Yes you should wait.
When windows 7 is released Retailers will be lowering their prices on
computers having windows Vista pre-installed and will offer to upgrade the operating system for free.. This is usually the buyers time to negotiate a better price. In other words you have the upper hand.
    Don’t buy now

Uhh, If it’s such a sweet deal I would swoop up on it. You can always change operation programs easily. So even if the labtop you buy now comes with Vista, you can always install the new Windows 7 operation system.

  6. Swoop away. Like some other guys have said; even if you buy the galctico version of 7 you’ll still be ahead.

Find out how much window 7 cost, and see if you can just buy windows 7 and install when it comes out.

It depends on what you want really, but no you will not be “behind the times” if you do not get windows 7 right away because a lot of people are going to be skiddish about switching to a new OS so soon after the “Vista Failure”, and if this is such a great deal i say go for it, but in the end i suppose it is your decision. =P hope i helped
-Also there is talk of Microsoft giving a free upgrade to windows 7 for those users who have recently purchased windows vista ultimate if that helps your decision any =P
