How Do You Delete A Windows 7 Partition?

I installed Windows 7 on a partition on my C Drive, and I would like to delete it. I’ve tried going to Manage, and then Disk Management, but whenever I try to delete it it says that, ‘the partition has page files or boot files in it’. I’m not sure what that mean, so I really need to get rid of this partition. Please help.

  1. You can use gparted for that: http://gparted.sourceforge.net

Deleting the partition could render your PC unusable unless you have another Operating System on a separate partition. Are you sure you want to do this?
But if you have a dual boot setup, boot from the other Operating System and delete the partition where Windows 7 is installed. You can reclaim the space and merge it to one of your existing partitions using a third party application without repartitioning the whole drive. If you have Norton Partition Magic or Acronis Disk Director Suite, they can do it easily.
As always, backup your important files first before doing anything. You wouldn’t want to lose them. Right?

Did you try formatting it first? THEN deleting it?
