How Do I Make A Desktop Smaller In Windows 7?

I have an AOC monitor and Windows 7. The desktop is too big for the screen. Changing the resolution keeps the desktop the same, but makes the icons larger. Making screen adjustments just SHIFTS the screen but doesn’t make the overall display smaller. Any idea how to make the entire desktop smaller so all of it will fit?
Thank you.

  1. Check your monitor settings. I don’t mean in Windows but the settings on your actual monitor. You should be able to adjust the size of the screen (screen, not resolution) by going into your monitor’s settings. There should be some kind of Menu button on your monitor. Press that and you should find options to move your screen left, right, up, down, shrink/enlarge your screen horizontally (what you want), vertically, etc, etc.

i know, i had that problem too. but when you go to properties, click display and then change the screen resolution for a few times. it will eventually return to its small size. trust me. :]
