Can I Restore My Computer From Windows 7 To Vista With A System Restore?

Yesterday, I upgraded to Windows 7 Evaluation Build 7100 and my computer started to glitch. I want to go back to Vista but since I “upgraded” to the new OS I can’t do so without completely installing Vista again, losing all my currents files if I don’t back them up. I’m curious, though, would a system restore get Vista back?

No, because the first likely system restore point would be when you first installed Windows 7. All others before that would have been deleted when you updated…
    Hope this helps!

  2. No, unfortunatly you are unable to restore back to Windows Vista using Windows 7 system restore. You are unable to do this due to the fact that the system restore tool can only restore things of that current operating system. If you want to go back to Windows Vista you will need your system restore disc that your computer came with, the restore disc you made, or the Windows Vista disc itself.

  3. Since this is just an update you just have to restore it back to vista using the latest restore point you currently have. Lossing all the system set up you have done after that date/time. (Hardware drivers for example – causing the Hareware unable to functions without restalling and configuring them again)

I don’t believe so. I think you either have to purchase Windows Vista in the store or online or just download it from online. I’m assuming that you must purchase it, usually operating systems are not free.
On a previous yahoo question/answer I found an answer to the basic question of whether or not you can go from windows 7 back to vista. It was this:
“http://answers.yahoo.com/question/ind… (The answerer was named “Oprah” and i cited him or her below.)
Another answerer, for the same question, on the same webpage that I cited, said this:
“You will have to boot from the Vista disc and delete the partition in which Windows 7 was installed. Then create a new partition and format the drive then install windows Vista in that.” (His name was Rahul, and I cannot type the symbols out that are his “screenname.”)
Hope that helps. Basically, no, I don’t think a restoration of the computer or a system restore would help you get Windows Vista back on your computer.
    Good luck!

You should first check out these troubleshooting tricks to get Windows 7 to work correctly: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windo…
If you still want to reinstall Vista you will need to backup your data and perform a clean install: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windo…

System Restore brings you to Last Known Good Configuration, but it will be again Windows 7.
To downgrade computer to Windows Vista needs a recovery disc and, probably, with product key #.You will loose all your files, so it good idea to back them up.
