I need a new laptop but since Windows 7 is coming out soon I decided to wait. Does anyone know when computers with Windows 7 will be available? I’ve already decided with laptop I want but right now every computer I’ve found has Windows Vista but has a free upgrade to Windows 7. I just want it with Windows 7 to begin with.
Say, I have a windows vista install disk, and I install it, but don’t have the product key, and therefor can’t activate it, will I be able to use the windows 7 upgrade disc and install windows 7, or will I have to have an activated windows vista first?
Just to explain;
Windows 7 comes out from the 22nd October ‘09.
In stores right now, Windows Vista is pre-installed on computers so its ready to go.
How soon, when Windows 7 comes out, will it be able to be bought pre-installed on computers, rather than buying it and installing it yourself?

So I’m building a new computer soon. I really want to start using it straight away. Which OS should I install (of XP and vista) if I plan on upgrading to windows 7 once it comes out? I’d really like the transfer to be quick and painless. Also I’ve heard of people running multiple OS how do you do this?
I have the Windows 7 Beta on a separate DVD-R disc I burned, but I will not have access to the computer I wish to install it on until after February 10th.
All downloads of the Beta cease after the 10th; will this stop me from installing as well ? Thanks !

I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition on a 2006 Dell Dimension E521 with 1 GB of ram a 160 GB hard drive. I want to know how to do a CLEAN installation of the windows 7 release candidate.
I normally use Windows Vista, but I wanted to change things up a bit and use Windows 7. When I installed everything and partitioned my drive (obviously not in that order) everything went smoothly. However, I noticed that the graphics (ex. the desktop icons, text, etc) were significantly larger than Vista and not as sharp. Is there any way I can make them normal? Thanks in advance!
It is an incredible operating system. Probably the best to date.
